Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is by far one of my favorite artists out there right now. Not just because of her great music or her avant garde fashion, but because of how she combines these things, and everything else about herself into not just a persona, but a living performance art piece.. truly insiring i must say. But something that concerns me is that most people dont get it.. most people who even claim to get it, dont even really know where her ideas come from. Gaga is no snowflake. She remids us of where she gets her inspiration from all the time with direct homages and even verbalized shout outs to the people who have really inspired her to be what she is.. Andy Warhol, Grace Jones etc.

But there are even more people.. mabe not a direct inspiration to Gaga herself, but certainly there are people who have done what she is doing now, for years. Look at any number of drag queens in New York.. in particular look at Kevin Aviance.
A rather well respected drag queen and performance artist around the world from New York. His look and the look of the other queens in the house of Aviance are famously avante garde and visually eclectic.

Change Of Pace

I've decided to expand the focus of my writings here (few though they may be) because there are so many other things that i need to tell about that simply don't fit withing the original parameters of what i had intended to write about here. So.. a new leaf.. the other side of the fence.. we'll see where it goes from here yeah?

Must Have Spring Looks

Spring is upon us! If you dont have your wardrobe in place there is no time like the present to begin putting it together!

Here are a few suggestions that might make shopping a bit easier.

Solid V-neck shirt (American Apparel, always a staple!):

Cotton Blazer:

Flat front Shorts:

Boat shoes/ Keds:

This look covers most of the major pieces a man needs to have in his spring wardrobe.  Add to this a nice light weight cardigan possibly a few poplin button down shirts and of course a stylish windbreaker (Not that one that you were wearing back in '93 and just dig out every year, go to the store and invest in a new fashionable one please!)

Some general pointers:

-Avoid black, go for softer colors mainly neutrals. Stay away from pastels in anything but your shirt.

-Prints are fun! But use them wisely... Plaid shorts are not cute on you.. and I know Liberace looked fabulous in those wild jackets he wore.. you won't.. I promise..

-Flip- flops are cute.. on the beach.. please leave them there...

- Button up your shirt! It's never that hot that you need to be unbuttoned down to your naval.. I dont want to know when your last chest wax was.  Two buttons should more that suffice to keep you cool.

-Dress for the weather, not for the season! You look like an idiot wearing shorts and sandals in 30 degree weather.. even if it is April.. you are making everyone around you uncomfortable.

- You don't have a big coat on to hide all your stuff in the pockets.. that does not give you permission to jam your keys, wallet, cell phone, iPod, cigarettes, etc. into your butt pocket.. you look dumb. Just carry a bag (a real bag, leather is always in season in this case, but canvas is also a nice alternative.. if it makes that 'swishy' noise when you scratch the fabric leave it at the store) and man up.. or leave some of that junk at home!

Well with that said, happy hunting this spring :)

Long Time Coming!

Hey everyone! I haven't written in so long!

Well I'm back and I have a bone to pick... with other fashion bloggers!
Now I am not by any means a highly trained expert. Most of my knowledge comes from my experiences, information given to me from other fashionable people and of course extensive research and reading.

LEARNING ABOUT FASHION TAKES WORK!

That being said, there are too many people out there who are giving out the worst advice in the world and causing real problems for the already fashionably confused out there in the world.

For example.. I give you the famed man behind Ask A Gay Man.. William Sledd..
I usually love his ideas and advice.. and more often than not he is very correct.  My issue is that he is often so vague when describing things and so broad when dismissing them that I fear that many of his subscribers might find themsleves pinned into a corner when shopping because hes has slammed everything the store is offering.

Take a look at his latest video and you can judge.

Like I said, some of what he say is quite correct.. but never specific enough to REALLY be helpful when someone wants to be a truly fashionable person.  WILLIAM WATCH SOME RUNWAY PLEASE!

I hope that when I am offering advice and tips that I am never so confusing and behind the fashion times!

Look Book

So firstly let me apologize for my extended hiatus from blogging... drama to be sure. But anyway here I am. So I don't have a particularly interesting topic today but so I can show you something I figured I would give you a peek into my closet. Here are 5 looks that I put together. A few relatively simple and versatile ideas that I love. Enjoy
